The Turbine Art Fair is presented by The Forum Company, and is a platform where curators and galleries are given the chance to promote emerging and established talents at affordable rates.Exhibitors such as galleries, collectives or dealers are invited to showcase contemporary art pieces valued below R40 000. No mere art market, the Turbine Art Fair carefully selects its exhibitors, ensuring that they comply with the core values of the fair and its organizers. TAF’s Fresh Produce market allows young talents to exhibit their work, while also assisting them with a workshop that includes practical and professional elements.For both art-lovers and artists alike, the event also boasts daily music, artisanal food, drinks and books. In addition, there will be a free interactive Talk Programme, where visitors to the fair are afforded to opportunity to learn more about the South African art world, as well as meeting influential persons such as art collectors and gallerists.TAF2016 will be showcasing over 50 galleries and exhibits, including a showcase of the finalists and winners of the PPC Imaginarium Awards. The PPC Imaginarium will take pride of place in the foyer of the Turbine Hall. This exhibit will be curated by Stephen Hobbs, the exhibition designer for PPC Imaginarium and a respected artist in his own right. Stephen will make use of the space and lighting to bring the final pieces to life.The Turbine Art Fair is only one of the six stops that the PPC Imaginarium Awards will make to promote the talent of its finalists in 2016, after already having presented its travelling exhibition at Youngblood in Cape Town, UJ and Pretoria Arts Association earlier in the year.
