A capsule exhibition of these works will be showcased at the ART AFRICA FAIR 2017, which is a new event on the PPC Imaginarium annual calendar of exhibitions.The fair is a project of Art Africa magazine and will open its doors for the first time as a fully curated international event, taking place from 24 February to 5 March 2017 at the Watershed at the V&A Waterfront in Cape Town. The event will present a unique snapshot of Africa’s most exciting contemporary talents, allowing for an immersive, multi-sensory art experience from a diverse range of contemporary artists.The ART AFRICA FAIR 2017 invited artists and galleries to propose work that provokes alternate artistic visions of the African continent in order to challenge stereotypical understandings, and introduce, propagate and take responsibility for new representations about Africa, from Africa. So you can expect to see some exciting, challenging work. Because the PPC Imaginarium focuses on innovation and pushing conceptual boundaries, it was accepted for participation at the fair.As one of the country’s biggest platforms for emerging talent in South Africa, the PPC Imaginarium Awards will exhibit an edited selection of artworks from across the competition’s six categories, namely architecture, jewellery, sculpture, fashion, industrial design and film.The PPC Imaginarium Awards is the most supportive competition of its kind in the country and has seen many of its past entrants and finalists go on to become recognised in the art and business community.
