100% Design South Africa is the largest curated exhibition platform for sourcing high-end contemporary design in Africa. Launched in August 2014, 100% Design South Africa showcases the most inspirational designs and designers. The event takes place alongside the popular and well-attended Decorex Joburg and is the perfect platform to source South African and international furniture and product design as well as lighting, interior design, surface and materials for the residential, commercial, hospitality and office sectors – making it the ideal place to exhibit the works of some of South Africa’s most talented emerging creatives.
The PPC Imaginarium exhibition at 100% Design South Africa will feature the Awards’ 2017 Overall Winner and Sculpture Category Winner, Mziwoxolo Makalima, who was awarded the competition’s champion prize of R100 000 in cash for his socio-political artwork titled “Doubt-Queuing”. This is in addition to the R50 000 he received for winning the Sculpture Category prize. The 2017 Category Winners and Runners-up, who were awarded R50 000 and R15 000 respectively, as well as the works by the other finalists, will also be on display.
Inspired by the logistics of the awards’ nationwide travelling exhibition a Stuttaford Van Lines truck – Stuttaford Van Lines kindly transports the competition’s concrete works to as many as eight venues a year across the country – will serve as the central feature of the exhibition space. Inside the truck, visitors will find a simulated living room area comprising a variety of Industrial Design works, as well as a projector screen showcasing the works of the awards’ Film finalists. In keeping with the “travelling exhibition” theme, the works by Fashion, Jewellery and Sculpture finalists will be displayed on packing crates around the truck.
Don’t miss out on the chance to be inspired by the latest creative concepts and see some of the best new products emerging from the design sector, and of course the works by our incredibly talented 2017 finalists! For more information and to book your tickets, visit www.100percentdesign.co.za.
