My neckpiece is a reaction to my urban environment...

I am a contemporary studio jeweller from Durban and an architect’s daughter. I have grown up with buildings – buildings during conception, buildings being built and completed buildings.

I loved the idea of mixing cement with my construction of silver. My neckpiece is constructed using sterling silver and cement.

It is a reaction to my urban environment, both past and present. I live and work in the city and am surrounded by this urban jungle of buildings, windows, entrances and exits as well as the construction of buildings. It is from this that my angular scaffolding of silver being held together with concrete, is inspired.
