In this dystopian sci-fi film, “Optimus Usimende”, a downtrodden hero undertakes to repair the chasm between privileged and oppressed.

The film follows the protagonist, Usimende, and his life on the outskirts of a divided city. Usimende grew up watching “Transformers”, which continues to fuel his desire to do good and seek justice.

The narrative traverses two worlds: his place of work, where a privileged minority resides in suburban sprawl; and his home, a desolate wasteland relegated to the city’s borders.

Here, the built environment is personified. Using hand-made animation techniques, the film grapples with questions of access, land and unequal resource distribution.
