Sculptor/Musician Israel Israel was born and educated in Bulawayo. He holds a certificate in art from Mzilikazi Art and Craft Centre. In 1992 he taught art at Enkanyisweni Art Centre. Currently, he is the Director of Crossing the Bridge project and a VAAB committee member in charge of membership portfolio.
He has held a solo exhibition, 2 men exhibitions and also exhibited in many group exhibitions locally and abroad including during HIFA. In 2014, he represented Zimbabwe in the KAURU SADC Exhibition in Tswane, South Africa. Israel has curated some shows namely Enzikini which was a group exhibition at the National Gallery in Bulawayo in 2013 and also Crossing The Bridge Exhibition which he co-curated in 2014. He has had the opportunity to attend art workshops in Scotland, Botswana and Zambia and has done many commissions locally and in Botswana, South Africa and the UK.
Over the years, Israel has won numerous merit awards and distinctions. Some of these are the National Art Merit Award (NAMA), National Healing exhibition. In 2012 he was nominated for a National Art Merit Award (NAMA).
