Description of artwork
In form of a sculpture installation, my idea is to stage a food feast using concrete. The staged food feast consists of kitchenware such as cups, cutlery and serving dishes that have been staged in a such a way that they appear to have been eaten, nibbled on and devoured by people. This way of representing the objects and materials will strip them of their original typical everyday uses and functions, thus mobilising the artwork so that it questions human behaviour.
The idea is to interrogate how we as human beings just consume, engulf, annihilate, devour, use up, demolish, destroy, transform, advance and evolve the resources around us such as music, food, sex, erotic products, technology, fashion, consumer products, natural elements and resources, plants and even abstract concepts like love, which is symbolised by the commercial Valentine’s Day products included in the sculpture. Our own lives become filled up and consumed by our movements and interaction throughout life on earth.
