Description of artwork
My idea is to create an aesthetically pleasing outdoor seat that is immobile, solid and durable and can be placed in public or private spaces.
Cement is a material that has a wide variety of uses. It is durable, long lasting and perfect for outside furniture. It is also highly versatile and can be given a wide range of finishes.
The inverted pyramid shape of the seat offsets the appearance of the natural heaviness and weight of the concrete by making it appear to be lightweight. The seats’ solar-powered lights will absorb sunlight during the day and provide illumination at night.
Overall, I think wood and cement create an interesting contrast of materials, leading to an original and appealing overall design.
